
You can challenge another trainer in your server in two modes.
Battling battle and battlebuddy
will give XP gains to the involved pokemon. These commands have a 60 minute cooldown.
battle will give the attacking pokemon an XP gain of 100 * level of pokemon.
It will give the defending team 18 * level of pokemon.
battlebuddy has the same gains. 100 * level of attacking pokemon, and 18 * level of defending pokemon.

Buddy VS Buddy
Using the command o!battlebuddy @mention-trainer
Both you and your opponent need to have a buddy assigned.

A-Team VS A-Team
Using the command o!battle @mention-trainer
Both you and your opponent must have created your A-teams.
Another method of battling, is to try and defeat one of the region trainers,
at their respective gyms.

When you defeat a gym trainer, they will grant you their trademark gym-badge, as well as some sweet rewards in xp and possible pokeslots for your inventory.
The first gym-badge you should aim to collect is the Boulder Badge, which is entrusted to you by Brock.

Once you can travel to JOHTO and other regions, Team Rocket Grunts will approach you for battles.

Defeating a Grunt will score you some rewards, including a TR Component. Once you collect 6 TR Components,
you can challenge a Team Rocket Leader and save a shadow pokemon from Team Rocket's evil plans.
